This would be insane!

The worst was confirmed for New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who lasted only four plays in his debut at MetLife Stadium against the Buffalo Bills in September. An MRI revealed that he suffered a torn Achilles, which meant that he was finished for the rest of the season.

But could he stun the world and return at some point this season despite having suffered the debilitating injury just a few months ago?

According to NBC sideline reporter Melissa Stark during last night's game between the Jets and Las Vegas Raiders, Rodgers said that he's targeting a return of mid-December.

"He said, ‘I know it sounds insane, but you do a good surgery, you have a good patient, it makes this possible,’" Stark said on the broadcast.

Rodgers was seen recently chatting with Chargers defensive back Derwin James and said that he needed a few more weeks before returning. But during his weekly appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show" Rodgers clarified his comments.

"I mean, obviously, that was said with a little tongue in cheek there. It’d be nice to be back in a couple weeks, but that’s probably not anywhere near a realistic timeline," Rodgers said Tuesday. "It could be a few, it could be a lot. It’s more of a phrase that didn’t have a specific timetable. I said it smiling, joking… obviously it’s gonna be more than a couple weeks."

What an absolutely gutsy and incredible accomplishment that it would be for Rodgers if he was somehow able to make it back to action on the field this season. Whether or not he's able to remains to be seen - but the mere fact that it's in the conversation is nothing short of remarkable.
