Bears defensive coordinator coach resigns amid FBI rumours
Not a good time to be a Bears coaches
After a horrible start to the season, the Chicago Bears find themselves with an 0-2 record a few days before facing the Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs.
Who is to blame? The first to speak out was QB Justin Fields who suggested that the coaching staff was preventing him from being himself and that his game had become "robotic". Comments which would probably have been taken out of context when the main person concerned made it clear that that was not what he meant.
However, this morning defensive coordinator Alan Williams resigned from the Bears organization. Several rumors have been circulating about him in recent days. Among other things, the FBI would have raided his house as well as his office at the Bears headquarters. Some rather controversial content would have been found. Former Bears player Peanut Tillman also made headlines linking him to this story. Now an agent for the FBI, he would have been one of the agents on site during the raid.
Later this afternoon, NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported on his Twitter account that the team wanted to clarify some rumors. It was confirmed that Williams was never investigated by the FBI, the NFL is not involved in this story and neither is Tillman.
According to the defensive coordinator, he decided to retire to take care of his health and his family. He also hopes to eventually make a return behind an NFL bench when the time comes.
Williams was not present for the Bears' last game as they took on the Buccaneers in Tampa Bay.
