Colin Kaepernick's girlfriend blasts NFL, Harrison Butker supporters

The girlfriend of the controversial former quarterback is speaking out.

Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker found himself embroiled in controversy after a Commencement Speech at Benedictine College after encouraging female graduates to embrace motherhood while also encouraging male graduates to embrace their masculinity among other things.

Though a Change.org petition to have Butker removed from the Chiefs received thousands of signatures, Butker has gotten support from Chiefs ownership along with quarterback Patrick Mahomes, tight end Travis Kelce, and head coach Andy Reid.

Additionally, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell also defended Butker's right to his beliefs:

“We have over 3,000 players," Goodell said. "We have executives around the league. They have diversity of opinions and thoughts just like America does. That’s something we treasure.”

However, that has not sat well with Nessa Diab, the girlfriend of controversial former quarterback-turned-activist Colin Kaepernick. She blasted the Chiefs on social media in a pair of separate posts, voicing anger at the organization and those who defended Butker's remarks:

“That’s why I don’t watch that organization, and I still don’t care who performs at their halftime show.”

“You all line up to defend Harrison Butker’s opinion, But when Colin Kaepernick took a knee to state his, you all lost your [expletive].”

Kaepernick became synonymous with social justice reform when, as a member of the San Francisco 49ers, knelt during the national anthem in 2016 to protest police brutality and social inequality. Kaepernick has not seen NFL action since January of 2017 with 49ers. He opted out of his contract in March 2017 and has has been a free-agent ever since.

Of course, it wasn't too long ago that he participated a much-hyped workout in an attempt to make a return to the pro stage. And despite several teams reportedly showing interest, none took a waiver on him. He also missed out on a chance to join the XLF, as they balked at his reported salary demands.
