For fans of the Dallas Cowboys who were waiting to see what the team would be doing with RB Tony Pollard, you now officially have your answer.
The Cowboys have announced earlier today that they are indeed placing the franchise tag on Pollard, a one year, $10.09 million guaranteed deal:
Team owner and general manager Jerry Jones implied that this was a possibility last week:
""That franchise [tag] is there and should be used judiciously used for the right spot," he said. "I really don't want to say it's a done thing because as these things come and go, you don't know where you are until the deadline comes and goes but right now, certainly Tony is a big part of our plans."
Last season, Pollard racked up 1,007 yards with nine touchdowns on 193 attempts while making $965,000 in what was the final year of his four year deal.
