Cowboys owner Jerry Jones explains why he was worried on Sunday

Jones is naturally very protective of his valuable asset.

It was absolutely no contest Sunday afternoon.

The Dallas Cowboys bounced back from last week's 30-16 loss to the Denver Broncos, having their way with the Atlanta Falcons Sunday afternoon at AT&T Stadium and improving to to 7-2 in 2021 with a 43-3 blowout victory.

It was Ceedee Lamb hauling in two touchdown passes from quarterback Dak Prescott for the Cowboys, who also got a strong performance from RB Ezekiel Elliott, who ran for two touchdowns of his own. Thanks to their dominating offensive output, the Cowboys were able to enjoy their biggest halftime lead since 1971 with a 36-3 advantage.

Oh, and their 29 points in the second quarter were good for the most in franchise history. Not a bad afternoon, wouldn't you say?

However, it was one play late in the 3rd quarter that admittedly had Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones worried. Prescott ran a play-action bootleg and muscled his way into the end zone through several Falcons players with his team already leading comfortably.

And for Jones, who was clearly affected by the gruesome ankle injury that ended Prescott's season last year, he continues to think about his quarterback's health.

"I worry about it. We got to realize that at the end of the year what this is about is being standing," Jones said on his weekly radio appearance on 105.3 The Fan. "Warren Buffett one time said the hardest thing about accumulating wealth is to be there to spend it."

"That's just the way he's going to play the game. He's going to play to win. He's going to play to score. That's what makes Dak Dak. He's a fierce competitor. He's a great leader. He sets the tone for this team," the son of the owner said, also on 105.3. "Obviously, you could feel it in him all week long that he had something to prove. He went out and just did an amazing job with this football team. We're so fortunate to have him, but I will say I hope we don't see that much the rest of the year."

The Cowboys will pay a visit to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs next Sunday.
