By now, you’ve heard the news that the Dallas Cowboys have lost Trevon Diggs for the remainder of the 2023 season after he suffered an ACL tear during practice earlier in the week. While one player usually doesn’t make or break an entire team, it’s a massive setback for Dallas to say the least.
And this means that other players are going to have to step up and fill the void that he leaves behind. For DaRon Bland, he’s ready to do just that.
"You don't ever want a player or teammate to have an injury, especially an injury like that," Bland said. "It's still a game I've been playing. I've been playing mostly inside for the last year, so moving back outside will be good. Just gotta keep my head straight."
And according to head coach Mike McCarthy, there’s faith in what Bland can do.
"Very comfortable in DaRon, very confident," McCarthy said Friday. "He has always stepped up and played. He's very professional for a young player, and this is an opportunity that he'll take the challenge."
The Cowboys face their first test without Diggs today when they take on the Arizona Cardinals, and will be looking to improve to a perfect 3-0 on the year.
