Dak Prescott delivers message after Cowboys destroy Falcons

This afternoon was no contest!

Simply put, this was no contest.

The Dallas Cowboys bounced back from last week's 30-16 loss to the Denver Broncos, having their way with the Atlanta Falcons this afternoon at AT&T Stadium and improving to to 7-2 in 2021 with a 43-3 blowout victory.

It was Ceedee Lamb hauling in two touchdown passes from quarterback Dak Prescott for the Cowboys, who also got a strong performance from RB Ezekiel Elliott, who ran for two touchdowns of his own. Thanks to their dominating offensive output, the Cowboys were able to enjoy their biggest halftime lead since 1971 with a 36-3 advantage.

Oh, and their 29 points in the second quarter were good for the most in franchise history. Not a bad afternoon, wouldn't you say?

Of course, head coach Mike McCarthy couldn't be more pleased with his team's performance, especially in response to last week's disappointing setback.

"Seven days ago, we didn’t like where we were," he explained. "But that was the response that we needed. Our guys did a hell of a job.”

But despite their overwhelming win over the visiting Falcons, don't expect them to get too high on themselves. According to Prescott, that's what got them in trouble last week against Denver.

"We're not going to get overconfident again," Prescott explained. "That's what a game like last week does for you. It leaves that taste in your mouth and keeps you humble."

Of course, Prescott could tell that the Falcons were preparing for today's game with a similar game plan to that of Denver's last week. Unfortunately for the visitors, it didn't work out the way they thought.

"I think, as I said last week, the reason I wanted it is because we didn't play a good game," Prescott said. "If they feel like that was the recipe for success against us, then good luck to them."

He finished 24 of 31 for 296 yards with a fourth-down rushing TD before sitting out in the 4th quarter thanks to the game's score.

The Cowboys will enjoy the victory for the rest of the day before turning their attention to next week's opponent in the unfriendly confines of Arrowhead Stadium for a matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.
