The Ezekiel Elliott era with the Dallas Cowboys is officially over with, as he's signed with the New England Patriots earlier in the week.

He was cut by the Cowboys earlier this offseason, but the team left the door open for a potential return while he fielded interest from other NFL clubs. And while there was reported mutual interest between him and the New York Jets, he ultimately decided to sign with the Pats after a successful meeting with them.

For Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, a longtime teammate and friend of Elliott's, it's a disappointing reality but he also had nothing but good things to say about what he'll be bringing to New England.

“I’ve talked to Zeke pretty much every day,” Prescott said. “Obviously had great insight that this was coming up, that this was a potential for him. Told him I support him, excited that he was going to be able to get a new opportunity.”

"That’s a brother well beyond this football field," he continued. "I know he’s going to help that team. Talk about being a great teammate, a professional, there’s not many better than Zeke that I’ve seen in my time."

He also had this to say about Elliott's new look:

"I love his new haircut," Prescott said. "He looks younger."

Prescott and the Cowboys are going to be facing Elliott and the Patriots this October at AT&T Stadium. You can bet that the sellout crowd in Arlington will be giving Elliott a standing ovation as a nod to his accomplishments with the team over the years.
