Dallas Cowboys announce series of roster moves before Week 6 matchup vs. Pats

A few moves from Jerry Jones.

The Dallas Cowboys will be putting their 4-1 record to the test tomorrow when they invade Gillette Stadium in Foxborough for a matchup against the former perennial Super Bowl contending New England Patriots

But before his team hits the field tomorrow afternoon, general manager Jerry Jones has taken care of a few personnel matters.

The Cowboys have announced a series of roster moves, beginning with the waiving of OT Brandon Knight, whom the Cowboys originally brought into the fold as an undrafted free-agent in 2019.

“I thought [Knight and backup RT Terence Steele] had some tough moments in pass protection, obviously, but both battled. Remember, it wasn’t just Smith and Collins getting hurt — it was Cam Erving, the primary backup tackle, missing 10 games due to injury,” Rob Phillips of the official team website explained in February.

Knight started nine games for Dallas last season thanks to numerous injuries on the offensive line, but has only played three snaps in 2021. His departure could signal a potential return for All-Pro offensive tackle Tyron Smith, who had been dealing with a neck ailment.

Meanwhile, they've signed fullback Nick Ralston and tight end Jeremy Sprinkle; both have been added to the team's 53 man roster.

Ralston had been previously waived by the Cowboys in August and relegated to the team's practice squad; he played collegiately at Louisiana. Meanwhile, Sprinkle is a former 2017 draft selection of the Washington Football team after having played collegiately at Arkansas. He's amassed 301 yards on 34 receptions with three touchdowns over the course of his career.
