Dallas Cowboys might consider resting Ezekiel Elliott!

They're reportedly concerned about his work load.

The Dallas Cowboys are headed back to the drawing board after their third loss in the last four games yesterday at the hands of the Las Vegas Raiders at AT&T Stadium in their annual Thanksgiving Day game.

And while they'll be looking to get back into the win column next Thursday when they hit the Big Easy for a matchup against the New Orleans Saints, one player who might not see as much action is none other than RB Ezekiel Elliott.

Elliott had previously gone on practice report in Week 10 with a knee injury, and played yesterday while recording 25 yards and a touchdown on nine carries along with six receptions.

And according to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport, his workload could soon be limited coming up.

"This knee injury, a bone bruise in his knee, is something that's going to linger all season unless they step in and basically take Zeke off the field," Rapoport said Friday. "It seems like it's something that he's going to play with. He's not going to be himself, he's not going to be 100% but he is going to play. That is the plan."

"I am concerned," head coach Mike McCarthy said. "He's a warrior and was fighting to get back there in every time. ... Zeke's running style is ferocious. He gives a pounding and takes some hits. We need to evaluate."

However, Elliott said earlier this week that he can play through the discomfort.

"It's all right," Elliott said Tuesday, via David Helman of the team website. “I mean, it’s sore, but it’s been sore. I would say it doesn’t feel any different than it did this time last week. So I mean, I warm up with [Cowboys director of rehab] Britt [Brown]. I’m going to continue to get my treatments, go see my PT, just do what I can to get ready for the game.”

“It’s football. You get hurt,” Elliott continued. “You’re not going to be 100 percent. I’m tough. I can play through it.”

The Cowboys take on the Saints next Thursday night.
