Ex-Cowboys kicker Brett Maher on the move again

That didn't take long.

Former Dallas Cowboys kicker Brett Maher landed with the Denver Broncos this offseason, but he didn't last very long in the Rocky Mountains. They elected not to keep him around and instead went with Wil Lutz, meaning that Maher was once again in need of a new team.

And already, he's gotten his new professional address. Maher will be signing with the Los Angeles Rams, per several reports, and will be on their practice squad. Ironically, he's now the only kicker on their roster.

Of course, he's going to be forever known for one of the most the most bizarre situation involving a National Football League kicker that we've ever seen last season, as Maher somehow missed a total of four extra point attempts over the course of his team's postseason victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in what could have been an absolutely disastrous situation.

The good news for Dallas was that his misses didn't affect the final outcome, and they were able to overcome his inexplicable misses. And despite making field goals from 25 and 45 yards out against the San Francisco 49ers the following week, an extra point attempt (that appeared to be veering wide left) was blocked by the defense.

It wasn't like this for Maher during the 2022 regular season, as he converted 90.6% of his field goal attempts and 94.3% of his extra point attempts.
