Ex-NFL player Aqib Talib's brother surrenders over murder

This story is extremely disturbing.

The Football Feed

An arrest warrant was issued for the brother of former NFL cornerback Aqib Talib in connection to the fatal shooting of a youth football coach named Michael Hickmon in the Dallas-area city of Lancaster.

“Upon arrival, officials were notified of a disagreement among coaching staff and the officiating crew. During the disagreement the opposing coaching staff were involved in a physical altercation and one of the individuals involved in the altercation discharged a firearm striking one adult male. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was later for treatment where he was later pronounced deceased.”

Yaqub Salik Talib surrendered to police last year after the incident. His brother Aqib announced his retirement from the NFL in 2020, and currently works as an analyst for Fox.

Following his sentencing, family members of the deceased were able to address Talib, including Hickmon's wife.

"You killed innocence. You killed souls, hopes, dreams. Not just my kids. But all the 30, 40 other little kids that was there. Who does that? How did you think that was right?" she said Monday. "People asked are you healed? I'll never be healed. I still ask myself every day: 'Why?'"

Hopefully the family of Hickmon will be able to get some closure with the sentencing and knowing that Talib will not be a free man for a very long time.
