It truly was a frightening scene earlier this week on Monday Night Football between the Cincinnati Bengals and visiting Buffalo Bills, as Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed to the ground after a routine tackling play. CPR was administered before he was taken away via ambulance to the University of Cincinnati Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.
However, Hamlin continues to make strides towards improvement, even communicating with his family via written statements. Being a true football player, his reported first words upon waking were inquiring as to whether or not the Bills won the game that was eventually cancelled.
And the latest update regarding his health is even better. Take a look at the statement released earlier today by the Bills:
"Per the physicians at UCMC, Damar’s breathing tube was removed overnight. He continues to progress remarkably in his recovery.
His neurologic function remains intact and he has been able to talk to his family and care team."
This is all great news, and we're certainly hopeful that Hamlin is able to eventually make a full recovery.
