Former Dallas Cowboys defensive end Aldon Smith will be spending the next year in jail after he plead no contest to a felony DUI charge stemming from a 2021 incident in Redwood City, California. He's also been given five years of supervised prohibition.

The incident, which took place in December of 2021, occurred when Smith allegedly rear-ended a truck parked on a freeway off-ramp. Authorities say they discovered several empty alcohol bottles in Smith's vehicles as well as marijuana.

This was only the latest in a string of legal troubles for Smith, who also had DUI arrests in 2012 and 2019.

He was selected with the 7th overall selection in the 2011 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers, and also spent time with the Oakland Raiders and Seattle Seahawks along with the Cowboys in 2020. He racked up 228 total tackles, six forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries.
