Terrible news out of the National Football League this afternoon.
The 2-year-old daughter of Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Shaquil Barrett named Arrayah passed away this afternoon, having drowned in the family swimming pool. The child would be rushed to a hospital, but would sadly be unable to be revived.
Police are conducting an investigation into the incident, but all indications point to this simply being a tragic accident.
The Buccaneers released the following statement:
"Today's tragic news is heartbreaking for all members of the Buccaneers family. Our thoughts and prayers are with Shaq, Jordanna and the entire Barrett family during this unimaginably difficult time. While no words can provide true comfort at a time such as this, we offer our support and love as they begin to process this very profound loss of their beloved Arrayah."
What a heart-wrenching tragedy. We send our thoughts and prayers to the Barrett family as they now have to cope with this unthinkable situation.
