South Carolina wide receiver Jalen Brooks was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft, and needless to say, he was thrilled with the selection.

However, he knows that his spot on the team isn't guaranteed, and that he must work for it.

"I am just excited," he exaplained. “Just coming from Division 2, making my way to the SEC. I am extremely excited right now. It is a dream come true. I am just ready to get to work. I won’t be satisfied until I make the active roster, that 53.”

He then gave a shoutout to his wide receivers coach Justin Stepp for helping to further his development while playing with the GameCocks.

“One thing that Justin Stepp always critiqued us was attacking the ball,” Brooks said. “Attacking the ball in the air, just going up to make a play. It’s either you come down with the ball or we are going to get a pass interference. Coach Stepp, he came in, he built so much confidence in that receiver room with me, Josh VannXavier Legette and then Juice Wells. Just having him by my side each and every part of that step and then just having other great receivers around my helped me get to this level.”

Brooks racked up 58 receptions for 785 yards and two touchdowns during his time with the school. Now, he'll be working to earn a spot on America's Team. Best of luck to him!
