Jerry Jones tells the truth of Kellen Moore's departure
The former Cowboys offensive coordinator moved on this offseason.

The Dallas Cowboys and offensive coordinator Kellen Moore mutually parted following their playoff loss against the San Francisco 49ers, and it wasn't long before it was announced that it would be head coach Mike McCarthy taking over the offensive play calls in 2023 despite the hiring of Brian Schottenheimer as a replacement for Moore.
Moore since resurfaced as the offensive coordinator of the Los Angeles Chargers, who are 2-2 through the first four games. And they just so happen to be facing the Cowboys this Monday in Week 6.
For Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones, he said that he was behind Moore's departure from the team.
“Well, I had everything to do with that, I really wanted, and Mike wanted too, but I wanted Mike – normally with Mike’s background, when he came in, normally he would have come in in charge of the offense and specifically calling the plays," Jones said.
"I normally would have done that. But we didn’t do it because we had Kellen and we wanted to – we thought that was the best way to win games."
"I don’t have to speculate, I know exactly what we did, and I know the same dynamics, the same decision-making last year decided to go forward with Mike calling the plays. And by the way, installing. You don’t call if you don’t install, and so Mike installs and he calls.”
However, Jones also admitted that he's "dreading" having to face Moore on Monday night.
“I have dreaded seeing Kellen (Moore) on this occasion," Jones said. "Kellen is one of my favorites as far as individuals. He’s a talented coach, make no mistake about it. … He’s become an outstanding coach.”
Monday Night Football will commence between the Cowboys and Chargers starting at 8:15 PM EST.
