The Dallas Cowboys decided to part ways with 2016 1st round draft pick Ezekiel Elliott earlier this month after the popular running back posted career low numbers in 2022 of only 876 yards and 12 total touchdowns. While the move was met with varying reactions from the Cowboys fan base, quarterback Dak Prescott and owner/general manager Jerry Jones didn't make any secret that it was a difficult decision.

Head coach Mike McCarthy said the same, saying nobody felt good about releasing the longtime Cowboys player.

"You know, no one felt good about that," he said. "I mean, Zeke has such a bright light to him too. He's a great teammate. There's so much love for him in the building, but you get to these spots, you know, the longer you're in this league, these are tough decisions. Very difficult decisions. Very difficult for Dak (Prescott). You know, I've had a number of conversations with Dak, but it's not easy."

But, could McCarthy see a scenario in which Elliott actually returns at some point to the Cowboys? Apparently so.

"Yeah, definitely," he responded. "I think you always keep the door open. Absolutely."

Cowboys fans, would you be comfortable with Elliott eventually coming back and suiting up for the Cowboys once more?
