Mike McCarthy, Jerry Jones have words for Jason Peters

The 1st year Cowboy made his debut on Monday

The Dallas Cowboys and veteran offensive tackle Jason Peters have officially agreed upon a contract earlier this year, bringing him aboard for a 20th NFL season. He's previously played for the Philadelphia Eagles, where he was named to multiple Pro Bowls. He's also played for the Chicago Bears.

He made his Cowboys debut Monday night agains the New York Giants as part of Dallas' second win of the year, though he played in a new position: guard.

"(In) my conversation with Jason, I asked him about guard when he got here and I think he said he played there two years ago,'' Dallas coach Mike McCarthy said. "His position flex was definitely part of our interest. ... But I think clearly his fit particularly next to (rookie) Tyler (Smith) is something that we were interested in because we wanted that veteran presence also to take advantage of his experience for Tyler.

"I think he’s a pretty natural fit for us at guard.''

It's not something that team owner and general manager Jerry Jones envisioned, either.

"I didn't plan for him to be able to play guard,'' said Jones.

Peters and the Cowboys take on the Washington Commanders on Sunday at AT&T Stadium.
