The Cowboys have gone 2-0 in his absence.

The Dallas Cowboys continue to be without quarterback Dak Prescott, who suffered a hand injury in Week 1 against Tampa Bay. In his absence, quarterback Cooper Rush has stepped into the starters role and has helped Dallas to two straight wins.

Meanwhile, Prescott has since had the stitches taken out of his thumb, and while he has been open about eying an earlier than expected return to action, head coach Mike McCarthy had no specific date as to a potential return.

"The first threshold was to get the stitches out. He got the stitches out last night. He still has some swelling that he has to deal with. Once he gets past the swelling and the strengthening stage, then he'll get to the point where he'll be able to throw," McCarthy said Tuesday.

"He'll be dealing with more rehab this week and hopefully we'll get the swelling and the strength where it needs to be. But I do not have a timeline on when he'll start throwing."

Team owner Jerry Jones said Tuesday that his progress has been "nothing short of amazing". However, Jones also expressed concern on "whether or not he’ll be able to grip and throw the ball."

The Cowboys take on the Washington Commanders this Sunday at AT&T Stadium.
