Mitchell Trubisky's fate apparently decided

The Pittsburgh Steelers certainly had some major shoes to fill upon the retirement of Hall of Fame quarterback Ben Roethlisberger this past offseason, and they decided to try and fill that void with veteran Mitch Trubisky. It didn't exactly work out, and it wasn't long before the Steelers would replace Trubisky with 1st round draft selection quarterback Kenny Pickett. 

It was Trubisky who agreed to a two year, $14.2 million deal with the Steelers to compete for the starting job with Pickett and Mason Rudolph. And while he initially won the starter's role, he would eventually be replaced by Pickett down the stretch, and he would establish himself as the full-time starter. 

Is Trubisky going to be coming back next season?  According to team president Art Rooney II, he is expected to return in 2023.

"I expect Mitch will be on the roster next year and be an effective backup if we need him," he said. "I think he showed that he can be that. We can win with him."

Trubisky appeared in seven games during the 2022 season, completing 65% of his of his pass attempts for 1,252 yards, four touchdowns and five interceptions while rushing 19 times. 

Are they making the right call in apparently bringing him back?
