Mother of Patrick Mahomes takes to Twitter to blame his teammates for his interception

Well, this likely isn't something that the struggling Mahomes needs right now.

The Football Feed

The Kansas City Chiefs were able to get a much-needed victory this afternoon in the nation's capitol, defeating the Washington Football Team by a 31-13 final score and improving back to the .500 mark with a 3-3 record.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes would throw for 397 yards and two touchdowns, rebounding from a poor first half that would see him throw two interceptions - astonishingly his seventh and eighth of 2021. Trailing 13-10 after 30 minutes of play, Mahomes would architect a comeback, and it was his teammates belief in his abilities that fueled him.

"In the second half, I kept doing stuff," Mahomes explained shortly after the game's conclusion. "I kept throwing across my body and doing a lot of different type of stuff because I know those guys believe in me, and I'm going to keep being that and keep fighting to the end."

But it was something that happened off the field that will have everyone talking - specifically, the thoughts of Mahomes' mother Randi on Twitter.

Randi Mahomes decided to offer her thoughts to the world after her son threw his 15th interception in his past 15 games, an attempted pass to Tyreek Hill that was picked off by Kendall Fuller.

Here is the play in question:

"Ok PEOPLE that should not be an interception on the QB," she wrote. "That should be a fumble or anything else.. just putting it out there.. GO CHIEFS.."

And, as expected, there was plenty of reaction to her tweet. Take a look at a sampling of the responses below:

Of course, this certainly isn't the first time that a relative of an NFL quarterback has spoken out on social media.

Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield's wife ventured into that territory recently, blasting Cleveland fans for what she felt was a lack of appreciation for her husband. Former Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford's wife Kelly has also been known to be outspoken on social media in defense of her husband.

The Chiefs will move on to face the Tennessee Titans next week.
