The Dallas Cowboys have the 26th overall selection in the upcoming National Football League Draft that officially kicks off later this month from Kansas City, Missouri.

According to a report earlier this month from NFL analyst Mel Kiper, the Cowboys have their eyes set on taking Notre Dame Fighting Irish tight end Michael Mayer with the 26th selection in order to provide further insulation for quarterback Dak Prescott.

And that report was given further credibility by Dane Brugler of The Athletic, who wrote that it is looking more and more like the team will in fact be taking Mayer.

Brugler wrote that "As one plugged-in league source told me about Mayer and the Cowboys: 'I just can’t see Dallas passing.'"

"The Cowboys are looking for a tight end who can hold his own as a blocker but also move the sticks as a receiving threat. If Mayer makes it this far, it’s a good bet he will have a star on his helmet."

There you have it, Cowboys fans. It sounds as though this is who the Cowboys will be making the newest member of their team later this month.
