Report: Pats owner Robert Kraft had “temper tantrum” over Brady's retirement snub
You know it's bad if the owner himself was reportedly furious!
Arguably the greatest quarterback in National Football League history officially called it a career this afternoon, but there are plenty of people who aren't exactly happy with him right now.
Tom Brady officially announced his retirement from the NFL and thanked Tampa Bay Buccaneers organization in his social media post, but conspicuously absent from his announcement were any mention of the New England Patriots, with whom he suited up for the first 20 years of his Hall of Fame career and threw for 74,571 yards and 541 touchdowns.
There were plenty of Pats fans who lashed out at Brady, and one reported high profile figure who was angry at Brady was none other than Patriots owner Robert Kraft.
Former Pats linebacker Ted Johnson, who won three Super Bowls with New England during his playing days, stated on "Boston Sports Tonight" on NBC Sports Boston that Kraft was furious at Brady having initially not said anything about the Patriots in his retirement announcement.
"I was told earlier tonight that … it was an unpleasant day today at the executive offices in Foxboro and that Robert Kraft initially when he first heard the news was very upset," said Johnson. "He was screaming and he was yelling and there was a temper tantrum that he threw after he read this IG post. So, he was not happy about it in Foxboro, and I'm not surprised. But to hear about the outward emotion that he showed regarding this post was a little bit surprising."
Following the backlash, Brady would later post, "Thank you @patriots and Patriot Nation. Beyond grateful and love you all."
