He's one of the all-time great players in Pittsburgh Steelers history, and he's gotten himself a new job.
Hines Ward, whom the Steelers selected in the 1998 NFL Draft and would go on to become the team's all-time leader in receptions, receiving yardage and touchdown receptions, is now the the new wide receivers coach at Arizona State University.
In the words of Arizona State reporter Anthony Totri, this is a "home run" hire for the Sun Devils. He writes:
"Hines Ward is a HOME RUN hire for Arizona State.
The 2X Super Bowl champion is one of the best WRs in Pittsburgh Steelers history.
Ward wasn’t just a talented pass catcher, but he’s one of the toughest run-blocking wideouts the game has ever seen."
Over the course of his career with the Steelers, he amassed an impressive 12,083 receiving yards, 1,000 receptions and 85 receiving touchdowns. He was also voted MVP of Super Bowl XL which took place in 2006 at Ford Field in Detroit.
Congratulations on the new gig Hines, and best of luck at Arizona State!
