Outside linebacker T.J. Watt has called the city of Pittsburgh home since he was taken by the Steelers with the 30th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, and he's grown into one of the best defensive players in the NFL today.

So, how exactly does he feel about playing in Pittsburgh in front of one of professional football's most passionate fan bases? For any Steelers fans who are worried he may want to depart at some point, these recent comments will put their minds at ease.

“Pittsburgh is really a special place,” Watt said during a guest appearance on former Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger's Footbahlin' podcast. “They love their sports people, love what they do for a living. They take a lot of pride in what they do. For people to spend their hard-earned money on our jerseys and to come out to the game and sit in the highest of rows at Acrisure Stadium just to root for us and see us play, and then be able to give back to when we do our charity events, this is a special place, man.”

Due to an injury he suffered in the first game of the season last year, Watt was limited to only 10 games for the Steelers in 2022 as they missed the playoffs for the first time in three years despite ultimately enjoying a winning record. Despite a shortened year, Watt still racked up 39 tackles, two interceptions, one forced fumble, and five-and-a-half sacks in the 10 games that he was able to play in.

Should Watt be able to enjoy a healthy 2023 season, don't be surprised to see the Steelers make a return to the postseason, especially with another year of experience under the belt of quarterback Kenny Pickett.
