TJ Watt: “I don't give a s**t”

Strong words from Watt.

The Football Feed

It certainly hasn't been the kind of season that the Pittsburgh Steelers or their fans imagined. Currently sitting at 4-7 and last in their division, the Steelers already faint playoff hopes seem to be fading by the day. They're facing a must-win situation tomorrow against the Atlanta Falcons, though they may not have reigning Defensive Player of the Year in TJ Watt on the field with them.

Watt was limited in practice this week with a rib injury, though he shook it off as saying it's something that he's dealt with for a long time now.

“I’ve been dealing with it for a couple of years,” said Watt, who is officially listed as questionable for the Falcons game with a rib injury. “It’s just something I have to get used to. It’s never fun to get the rib shots, but it’s something I have to deal with. I’m always going to be as aware as possible so I can affect the game. If I can’t get there, I’m going to try to get in a throwing lane or punch out the football."

Of course, Watt has already missed a major portion of the schedule after suffering a pectoral injury during Pittsburgh's Week 1 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. Naturally, Watt's stats aren't going to be what they were last year. And so far, he's only registered 1.5 sacks this season. But he's keeping the big picture in perspective, saying that it doesn't matter about his personal stats so long as his team gets what's most important - the win.

“As long as we win games, I really don’t give a s**t," he said.

The Falcons and Steelers (hopefully with Watt) will kick off tomorrow from Atlanta starting at 1:00 PM EST.
