A two time Superbowl champion has been charged with attempted murder following an arrest on Sunday that stemmed from a rather insane story.

According to multiple reports former National Football League cornerback Brandon Browner is now facing a possible maximum life sentence in prison after a vicious attack on his former girlfriend over the week-end, an attack where prosecutors believe that he attempted to kill her. At this time the motive behind Browner's actions has not been disclosed by the public but given that this is a former girlfriend it seems like there may have been an emotional motive behind this attack from Browner.

Browner would then go on to steal a Rolex watch from his former girlfriend and flee the scene but he was eventually captured by law enforcement officials, although they were only able to arrest him after a police chase occurred. No details on the nature of that chase have been released to the public at this time.

Police report that Browner broke into his former girlfriend's apartment on Sunday and then began to chase her around her apartment building before eventually getting a hold of her. Then Browner dragged the woman for an undisclosed amount of time before then smothering her in a carpet, presumably this is where the attempted murder charge stems from. Having anyone attempt to smother you would be horrifying but having a professional athlete and former football player do so is that much more terrifying. It's unclear how Browner's former girlfriend managed to survive the ordeal but given that this is an attempted murder charge and not a murder charge we can safely assume that she did indeed survive.

Browner has had a successful career as an NFL player by anyone's standards and has played for a variety of teams during his tenure in the NFL. Browner is a former member of the Denver Broncos, Seattle Seahawks, New England Patriots, New Orleans Saints and he even had a brief stint with the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League. He won his first Sueprbowl ring as a member of the Seattle Seahawks during the 2013 Superbowl where the Seahawks defeated the Denver Broncos, however that would not endear him to fans in Seattle for very long. The following season Browner was a member of the New England Patriots and he once again captured a Superbowl ring although this time he did so by defeating his former team in the Superbowl, much to the disdain of the Seahawks fan base.  Browner was named to the National Football League's Pro Bowl in 2011 and was credited with a total of 12 interceptions over the course of his NFL career.

Browner was also a decorated athlete during his time in the Canadian Football League being named a 3 time All Star in that league and even going on to win the Grey Cup with the Stampeders, the championship title in the CFL.

All of those accomplishments will mean nothing though if he spends the rest of his natural life behind the walls of a prison.
