He's drawn their ire for his lazy performances so far in 2023.

Former Pittsburgh Steelers wideout Chase Claypool has been anything but inspiring with the Chicago Bears this season, and they're reportedly putting him on notice that he'd better shape up or be shipped out.

Acquired from the Steelers last season, Claypool has looked mostly disinterested in the young 2023 season, and according to Fox Sports' Jay Glazer, he's been told by the Bears that he's on notice.

Glazer said prior to yesterday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that the team informed Claypool that he is “on notice” after last week’s uninspiring effort on the field, and that he could soon find himself being designated a healthy scratch or even traded if things don't improve.

Following yesterday's game against the Bucs in which the Bears dropped to 0-2, Claypool made a stunning admission - sometimes he doesn't even know what play the Chicago offense is running.

“Sometimes 10 guys are doing a good job and one person isn't. Like me, I think it's a run play and it's a screen. That's my fault,” he said.

Bears receiver D.J. Moore had the following to say about his interaction with Claypool last week on the sidelines:

“We actually addressed it with him on the sideline,” Moore told The Athletic.“Chase knew what was happening wasn’t good enough to help us win but at the same time, we didn’t want to beat down a dead horse…He will be ready to go and ready for his assignments.”

Right now, things are not looking good for Claypool and the Bears.
