While the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens are rivals, it didn't stop one particular member of the Ravens from helping out a Steelers player.

That Steelers player happened to be quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, and the Ravens player happened to be Ray Lewis, two of the most important figures in each organization's history, respectively.

Recently on his podcast, Roethlisberger recounted how Lewis saved him from what could have been a significant injury for the quarterback.

"I remember one time I was holding onto the ball and there was a pile up and I kind of got my leg bent under me," Roethlisberger said. "It was one of those ones where if a few guys keep going something bad was going to happen. I remember yelling and he [Lewis] started pulling guys off of me and helping make it so it wasn't so bad, and I respected that."

It was both out of mutual respect and the fact that as a competitor, Lewis wanted to beat the Steelers when they were at full strength.

"He took the approach, and I think a lot of competitors would do the same thing, where I want to beat you," Roethlisberger continued. "I want to beat that team, but I want to beat them with their best out there. If you want to beat the Chiefs, you want to beat them with Patrick Mahomes, not without him."

While there are certainly rivalries on the field, there still remains mutual respect between the players, and it's great to see a story like that involving two of the game's legendary figures.
