Dallas Cowboys acquire QB Trey Lance from 49ers

Get ready Cowboys fans, because there's a new quarterback in town that will be making his case to be the backup to starter Dak Prescott.

The San Francisco 49ers have traded Trey Lance to the Cowboys for a mid-round draft pick: 

With Brock Purdy having secured the starter's role with the 49ers and Sam Darnold being named his backup, the former No. 3 overall pick in 2021 was made expendable. He was actually scheduled to start tonight's pre-season game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
