Just when it seemed that the Philadelphia Eagles were releasing cornerback Darius Slay, there's been a complete reversal in his fortunes.
He's signed a three year deal to remain a member of the Eagles worth $42 million with $21 million guaranteed. The news was confirmed by ESPN's Adam Schefter, who reported the following:
"Numbers are in on Darius Slay’s expected extension: Slay agreed to a three-year, $42 million extension that includes $23 million fully guaranteed. The extension was confirmed and negotiated by Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey."
Slay released the following message on Twitter:
"Back like I never left!!! Run it back."
Since being acquired in a trade with the Detroit Lions, Slay has proven himself to be a valuable member of the Eagles defense, and has earned two Pro Bowl selections.
