The Dallas Cowboys now feature the 4th franchise winner of the Walter Payton Man of the Year award, which was given last night to quarterback Dak Prescott. The award recognizes an NFL player for his outstanding community service activities off the field, as well as excellence on the field, and is named for the late running back and Pro Football Hall of Famer Walter Payton.

And needless to say, team owner and general manager Jerry Jones was certainly proud of his quarterback.

"The Walter Payton Man of the Year Award is one of the most prestigious awards a player can earn in all of professional sports, and there is no one more deserving than Dak Prescott," Jones said. "From the very first day, Dak has displayed the heart and soul that reflect and define this award. He is a star on the field, but more importantly, he is a character-driven role model off the field."

"As an organization, we could not be more proud of the man that Dak is and the special impact and spirit he conveys to others. This is a special recognition, not only for Dak, but for the countless individuals whose life he has impacted."

Previous Cowboys players to have won the award include Jason Witten, Troy Aikman and Roger Staubach.

Despite his struggles this season with turnovers, the Cowboys have stated in recent days that they would like to keep Prescott a member of the team for the next decade.
