Pro Football Hall of Fame coach Jimmy Johnson is finally entering the Ring of Honor - though it isn't with his former team in the Dallas Cowboys whom he led to back to back Super Bowl championships in the 1990s.

He'll be given the honor at the University of Miami, where he coached from 1984 to 1988. He led the Hurricanes to a national title appearance along with an overall record of 52-9.

He will have to continue to wait to have the rightful honor bestowed upon him by the Cowboys and team owner/general manger Jerry Jones.

It wasn't the easiest of splits between Johnson and the Cowboys after it was reported that he wanted more control over personnel decisions - something that Jones wasn't willing to relinquish. Johnson was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2020; however, he's yet to be inducted into the Cowboys Ring of Honor.

There's also been a reported rift between Jones and Johnson, with Jones standing firm in his stance that the Cowboys Ring of Honor won't have any new major additions any time soon.
