The Pittsburgh Steelers hold the 17th overall selection in the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft, and they're certainly performing their due diligence prior to their crucial pick that they hope will be a major part of their team in the near future.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has reportedly met Coastal Carolina defensive tackle Jerrod Clark, while also reportedly meeting with Michigan nose tackle Mazi Smith on two separate occasions.

Steelers general manager Omar Khan accompanied Tomlin to the University of Michigan campus in Ann Arbor to take in Smith's Pro Day at Michigan Stadium:

Tomlin has spoke at length in the past about his admiration of the Michigan Wolverines:

“You just get that feeling when you walk into Schembechler Hall and see The Big House in the background, and it lets you know you’re in the right place,” Tomlin explained in 2019.

“Certain kids are attracted to programs — like Michigan — that have a history, tradition and legacy that is centered around core values and football. The aspects that bring those young men to a place like U-M attract other young men who see that.”
