The National Football League Draft is set to take place in Detroit, MI later this month, and we've sometimes seen trades go down among the festivities.
Right now, the Dallas Cowboys are set at the quarterback position with Dak Prescott, but could they potentially be thinking about dealing him, especially given the fact that he's in the final year of his current contract?
Radio and TV personality Craig Carton has floated the idea that the Cowboys are considering moving on from their franchise quarterback, and listed the Las Vegas Raiders as a potential destination.
"Well, there's smoke in the air out of Dallas ... there are starting to be rumors down there on Dallas sports talk radio that Dak Prescott is going to be traded. And the storyline, and I want to be clear, it's unconfirmed, there are talks that the Dallas Cowboys and the Las Vegas Raiders have had some conversations in which the Raiders would send four picks and maybe Gardner Minshew to Dallas to get the expiring contract of Dak Prescott. "
Needless to say, the Cowboys have some major decisions coming up. Prescott can become a free agent in the summer of 2025 after he's played out the final year of his contract, which begins this fall. He's never suited up for any other team than the Cowboys, and team owner/general manager Jerry Jones has made it clear that he wants him to stick around.
However, there's been a noticeable lack of progress in getting a new extension done, and by all indications, Prescott will be starting the year without a new deal beyond the current season.
