The NFL has come down hard on the Miami Dolphins this afternoon.

The team has officially been stripped of their 2023 first-round draft pick and 2024 third-round pick for what the NFL called "impermissible communications" with quarterback Tom Brady in 2019-20, along with the agent for former New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton. However, no evidence was found of the team intentionally losing games as former coach Brian Flores alleged.

Additionally, team owner Stephen Ross has been suspended through mid-October and fined $1.5 million; he can't be present at the Dolphins facility and may not represent the club at any team or NFL event.

According to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, the League's findings were "unprecedented".

"The investigators found tampering violations of unprecedented scope and severity," Goodell said in a statement. "I know of no prior instance of a team violating the prohibition on tampering with both a head coach and star player, to the potential detriment of multiple other clubs, over a period of several years. Similarly, I know of no prior instance in which ownership was so directly involved in the violations."
