The Pittsburgh Steelers are a perfect 1-0 in preseason play in 2023,  having earned their first victory of the non-official season last week in Tampa Bay with a 27-17 win. It was strong play from quarterbacks Kenny Pickett and Mason Rudolph who would help propel the Steelers, though Pickett didn't see much playing time with only 10 snaps over one series.

They next welcome the Buffalo Bills to Acrisure Stadium for their first home game of the exhibition schedule, and according to head coach Mike Tomlin, Pickett will be seeing more playing time in this game as opposed to the first.

“We’ll play it by ear,” Tomlin said Thursday before the Steelers’ final training camp workout at Saint Vincent College. “I acknowledge those guys will play, and I’ll also acknowledge they will play more. What that is, as I stand here right now, I’d be lying if I gave you a direct answer.”

However, we know the players who won't be suiting up include defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi, defensive back Tre Norwood and guard/center Nate Herbig, all of whom are dealing with various ailments.

For Tomlin, who was pleased with Pickett having gone 6-for-7 with 70 yards and a touchdown, he's expecting the same kind of effort.

“It’s reasonable to expect him to be better in all areas given last week’s experience, the in-stadium experience,” Tomlin said about Pickett. “The process by which we go through to tee-up a performance is something we want to capture and master.”

Gametime for Saturday is set for 6:30 PM EST.
