He's a Super Bowl champion and also a two-time Pro Bowl selection - could he make his way to the Dallas Cowboys?
Cornerback Jalen Ramsey appears to be on the way out of Los Angeles after posting a cryptic tweet hinting that he was done with the Rams, saying he “went out with a bang!”
As you may remember when it came time for the Cowboys to make their selection at No. 4 in the 2016 NFL Draft, they ultimately decided to take Ohio State Buckeyes running back Ezekiel Elliott rather than Ramsey. In Ramsey's words, that broke a promise that he said they made to him that they'd select him with their pick if he were still on the board.
"When I was on my visit to Dallas, they told me straight-up to my face, 'If you're there at four, we're taking you," Ramsey said of his interactions with the Cowboys in a past interview.
Originally drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars with the 5th overall selection in the 2016 NFL Draft, Ramsey quickly made his presence felt, earning two Pro Bowl nominations along with being named All-Pro in 2017. He would also help the Jaguars qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
In October of 2019, he would be dealt to the Los Angeles Rams for a trio of draft selections; it wouldn't be long before he would agree to a five-year, $105 million extension to stay put in Hollywood.
He has three years remaining on his current deal with a $25.2 million cap hit. He also has an opt-out option following the 2023 NFL season, allowing any squad to release him with a $11.4 million dead money hit.
This past season, he tied career-high with four interceptions, while also establishing a career-high with 18 passes defended; he would also record 88 total tackles.
