Seahawks' DK Metcalf goes to war with analyst Shannon Sharpe

Shots fired!

Someone call Orson Wells, because we've got a war of the words going on.

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf was called out publicly on Twitter by NFL analyst Shannon Sharpe, setting off a furious back and forth exchange between the pair.

Let's set the scene for those of you who may be unaware of the situation. During yesterday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Metcalf fumbled the ball with time ticking away in regulation. However, the Seahawks would be (temporarily) saved by Freddie Swain's spiking of the ball, followed up by a game-tying field goal from Jason Meyers.

However, it wasn't meant to be for Seattle, as the Steelers would eventually prevail in overtime. But after the on-field fireworks ended, there were some in the Twitterverse.

Sharpe called Metcalf out on his Twitter account,  accusing the wideout of trying to play "hero ball".

Metcalf was quick to respond.

During yesterday's game, Metcalf hauled in six receptions for 58 yards. So far in 2021, he's amassed 31 catches for 441 yards and five touchdowns.
