One of the great players in franchise history, former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman knows all about achieving success with "America's Team".

Meanwhile, current Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is entering the final year of his contract, and it won't be long before the team has to make a major decision regarding his future with the team.

But if the request Aikman has for Dallas holds true, Prescott won't be going anywhere.

“I’ve been listening to you guys on television and radio, I mean, they got to do his deal, don’t they?" Aikman said.

“Don’t we got to free up some money? So he’ll be here for a little while longer and he should be. He’s proven he can play at a high level. I know that they’ve come up short as a team the last few years, but he’s been a great player in this league and his best years are still ahead of him.”

Prescott, who has been the starter for Dallas since they selected him with the 135th pick of the 2016 NFL Draft, has racked up plenty of regular season successes but has been unable to get the Cowboys to their first NFC championship game since the glory days of the 90s dynasty teams.

In the meantime, there's no doubt in the mind of the last Cowboys quarterback to deliver a Super Bowl of who the team starter should be for the foreseeable future.

"He should be," Aikman said about whether or not Prescott should be extended. "He's proven he can play at a high level."
